Lo,

Little update e-mail... I'll try to keep it brief (honest... I'll *try* but... you know... fail).

So the 5th of November is always fun... for me it doubles as both bonfire night, and the annual anniversary of owning my very own IBM-compatible PC for the first time in 1995 (a lovely "AST Advantage Adventure! 4066d"... that I still have!... although I'd had things like a Spectrum and others prior to that).

But hearing and seeing those fireworks go off... always makes it dawn on me just how quickly the year has flown by.

Since my last update e-mail... a couple of us (myself included) in the StaffsLUG committee have come down with COVID-19 (some of us for the 2nd time... it just won't go away)... unfortunately pets passing away... big house moving plans (and packing) then being *issed on by Liz Truss... and some very long overdue holidays (given the lack of them in the last few years).

Unfortunately a lot of this was happening over that July/August/September period and so we missed the boat on trying to get things sorted for a Keele freshers fair (if they'd even let us participate)... but that at least gives more time on polishing the leaflets.

Also... am I the only one to notice being particularly more busy (and thus hours) at work than previously?  I don't mean previous to the COVID-19 2020/2021 years... I mean previous to that?  It's as though employers are making up for some ill-conceived perception of lost time/work?

I've begun ranting.

Suffice to say it hasn't been lost on me that we've stalled a little meetings-wise!

You should be getting some e-mails shortly about two new Workshop meetings (and Richard is also putting them up on Facebook, Meetup, Reddit, Discord, and Twitter).

The first will be all about Wine (covering what versions/editions exist and some of the more detailed information about how it works and can be configured) which will be NEXT WEEK on Tuesday 22nd November 2022.

The second will be an end of year meeting workshop... that will be on Tuesday 6th December.

It'd also be great if we could go for some kind of Christmas drinks at some point too.

As usual I'll likely see more activity from everyone on the IRC / Discord... but feel free to reply back on the mailing list too if you prefer.

Thanks
