Lo all...

Just a reminder that our customary end of year meeting is going ahead tomorrow.

People are free to discuss whatever they like, plan the next year a little... and if you fancy doing little talks - that'd be great.

Also, since we're meeting up...

Back on the 25th October 2022... the ORG Stoke-on-Trent group held an online-only meeting to discuss any issues people may have had with ICO, data protection, GDPR, etc...  However it wasn't well publicised (the ORG Stoke group is still finding its feet), it was missing a few people, and it ran over a little on time.

The ORG Stoke group have re-actively called that meeting... "Personal data horror stories"... and have decided to do one at the end of each year from now on (probably around Halloween).

But since our meeting tomorrow can be any topic... it might be a good chance to add to that meeting the perspective from any LUG members too :)

I've given this link before... but this is where you can find the ORG Stoke resources (as well as their mailing list)... https://orgstoke.ourstall.org/

The plan next year is to have a mix of meetings (all the same room) from StaffsLUG, ORG Stoke, and also FSFE Potteries.

So if you can think of any LUG talks which are exclusively about free software (as in... the kind that makes Richard Stallman get all aroused) then they can likely double as both a LUG and an FSFE Potteries meeting (as FSFE Potteries can get the message out to UK members of FSFE... about that meeting).

New meeting announced...

If anyone has any questions about the topic, just hit reply to this e-mail.

This is also going out on Facebook / reddit / Twitter / Meetup / Discord so possibly some new faces too.

Tuesday 6th December 2022 – Topic: End of year activities 2022
Presenter(s): Steven Maddox
Location: CoCoLab
Time: 6:30pm (main activities starting at 7pm)

We're normally wrapped up within 2 hours, some people stick around longer.

So enough time to quickly get some tea (is that too northern? an "evening meal" I guess) and then come out and join us :)

Details of that 'CoCoLab' venue are on the site but basically stick ST5 5NB into your sat-nav/phone and you'll find a building that looks like the below photo... be sure to use the 2nd entrance (it's the lower half of the building) marked by the big red arrow I've drawn!

Park in any of the bays at that back entrance which are marked for use by 'Internet Central' and use the doorbell on the 'Internet Central' door.

See you there :)
