Thought I'd also forward you all a copy of this.
ORG Stoke are having their second physical meetup in the same
room that we use for LUG meetings on the 28th March (so 2 weeks
after the 'Revolution OS' screening I just e-mailed about).
It should a be a great opportunity to meet new people (that we
might be able to tell them about the LUG too)... as ORG will be
advertising this out to their supporters that they have in the
local area.
Or if you have a Meetup account then you can just RSVP to their
meeting or e-mail them (information for both is below)

Hello again,
This is to announce that we'll be having our second physical meet
up on the Tuesday 28th March.
We were going to do one back in December but the timing just
didn't seem quite right with Christmas and luckily the person we
liaise with at ORG will be promoting this meeting to anyone who is
in the local area who is on the ORG general mailing list (e.g. if
you've ever signed a petition, donated, asked for a newsletter,
etc..).
It'd be great to see some of you that came to the meeting in June
(after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted and we weren't stuck
doing Jitsi meetings!). Especially now that we're organising
things with our own mailing list, rather than organising things
elsewhere (e.g. through LUG channels). We can start to gather our
communications about specific ORG Stoke-on-Trent matters here
instead.
We'll be having two more in-person meetings this year so don't
worry if you can't make this one.
This meeting will cover exactly what the 'Data Protection and
Digital Information Bill' is, what it started out as, and how it
is currently progressing.
Particularly we'll be covering how it attempts to amend the 'Data
Protection Act' since it was updated to conform with GDPR back in
2018. ORG have sent us a tonne of leaflets about this issue so
it'd be brilliant if you can take some and distribute them out
wherever you think is appropriate locally.
It's the same venue as before... but for those that didn't come
last time, it's just an office in a building on Keele Science Park
that fits around 30 people. We've got access to tea & coffee,
soft drinks, and a vending machine.
The presentation we'll giving is for everyone, as it'll affect us
all whether you're just an average member of the public or
involved in an organisation that processes or controls data on
behalf of others... this will be bad news if it gets through
unscathed for us all.
So please bring along along your friends, family, or significant
other... digital rights affect us all.
📅 Tuesday 28th March
⏰ 6:30pm arrival, 7pm main activities
📍 Innovation Centre 1 building, Keele University, ST5 5NB,
Staffordshire, United Kingdom.
🌐 Latitude: 53.003668 Longitude: -2.269742
Directions:
We're based on the Keele University campus just off the M6 in
Staffordshire, just west of Stoke-on-Trent. The building we're in
is simply marked 'IC' on the side (so not IC2, IC3, etc...) on the
Science Park area of the campus.
🚗 For parking you must use the the spaces marked 'Internet
Central' in the lower and rear car park behind the building.
🚪 Ring the door bell next to the door with the big 'Internet
Central' sign next to it, at the rear of the building.
Although it's not required, it would be useful for numbers if we
know you're coming, so either...
1) reply to this message
2) e-mail us privately on our (new!) e-mail address of
