Re: [Staffslug] More wireless PCMCIA

Dear All,
Thanks for the link and promotion.
Actually I have been on your mailing list for some time now but I've kept a
low profile. It's nice to see that you approve of my business.
On the matter of the network cards for LTSP I hope to have these on my site
as soon as I have finished making them.
The only reason that I have not attended any meetings is that I lack
transport and hate curry.
Regards
Matt

by Simon Faulkner
A couple of us are looking for NIC that will allow us to boot PCs from LTSP
Any ideas?

3G Laptop
by Simon Faulkner
Why does no one sell a laptop in the UK with 3G built in?
They do in many other countries
I had a FlyBook with GPRS but that's NBG compared to 3G (where you can
get it) so I am back to a (large) Sony with a PCMCIA card :-(
Seems so obvious...

Any recommendations for a wireless PCMCIA card to purchase for a 3 y/o
Sony slaptop to run Ubuntu 6.06?

A question...at last :-)
by Kevanf1
I have in my possesion a lovely little Sony VAIO Picture Book
notebook. Think mini notebook and you've got it. It's a bit bigger
than my ancient but still very workable, Psion 3a. Now, has anybody
any experience of these little beauties? Obviously with regards to
Linux. It's only got 64mb of RAM so forget Fedora or SuSE etc and
even Debian. I'm thinking of putting Damn Small Linux on it - which I
have recently discovered and like very much.
Of course, what I would love is to up the RAM....trouble is, it's
bloody expensive :-( Think of current prices and at least treble
it... it's a special chip of course, thank you Sony. So, if anybody
thinks they may know of somewhere that has some going cheap I'd be
very interested to hear of it.

Found it -Ubuntu Lite
by Kevanf1
I have found the Ubuntu Lite that I had previously mentioned -
especially for Russ :-)
http://www.ubuntulite.org/
It is different to Xubuntu in that Ubuntu Lite uses the ICEwm instead
of Xfce. I knew I hadn't dreamed it all up ;-)))
