With regards to mailman support, whatever the decided CMS, I'm sure
(so long as its PHP) I could do a bit of tweaking and hacking to get
mailman support. At least if we had mailman support, we could show
the world that StaffsLUG is active and not just a dead e107 site!
It'd also be neat to be able to generate RSS feeds of the mailman
threads (saves me checking my email all the time)
I just looked at other lugs websites quickly, and interestingly
Shropshire LUG decided to write their own from scratch dynamic website
in PHP, in true open-source spirit we could ask for their code to
either fork, or install on our own hosting. I like the idea that they
have an IRC channel too (where is ours?). I also checked out
Herefordshire's website, it looks pretty professional not sure which
CMS thats being used (but I like it!), its pretty active and well
maintained. Also in true linux-hacker style the Wolvo Lug has a
Planet setup with Hacker-Gotchi's which is pretty awesome.

Hi, I don't know if it is free any more, I think there is still an Open
Source version, but what about PHP-Nuke. There are many nice themes
available for that.
If not Nuke, there is Joomla, which is very nice, and very customisable, you
could have a calendar, forums etc... I would have a look at Nuke first, but
I would also seriously consider, and probably recommend Joomla, simply
because thee are so many useful add-ons for it.

Replacement for e107
by Dave@Staffslug
Hello all,
With Kris's excellent new logo, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good
replacement for e107 to make the site look at bit better to match the
quality of the logo.
Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed (remember I only have ftp access to
the site, so setup would have to be straight forward!)

Setting up linux server behind NAT
by Adam Turvey
HI all i'm new here i'v been playing with the idea of setting up my own server for a while now.
I have got ubuntu server 7 running on a system and was wondering how easy it is to set up a server behind a NAT router with a reg'd domain name (from places like 123reg.com etc)
for now i'm trying to get it running as an internal server on a LAN with samba running so it can be used as a file server for everyones laptops and desktops around the house but i plan on running a mail server and apache for webserver access and webpages available to the outside world
My question is how would i go about getting this LAN server available to the outside world using a domain www.silverrook.co.uk
My router is a US Robotics Sureconnect 9106
I'm using the newest distro of ubuntu server 7.10

Re: [Staffslug] New StaffsLUG logo(going slightly off thread with graphics discussion)
by Kevanf1
I have to admit that I don't have a problem with using a particular
software program. That stands whatever OS it is meant for. I love
the look of GIMP just the same as I do Photoshop. Both are fantastic
but highly complex pieces of software. That's my stumbling block with
both in equal amounts. I tend to use Paintshop Pro because it's what
I know. I have tried to get my head around both GIMP and Photoshop in
the past. Trouble is, when a job needs to be done I don't have time
to step onto a learning curve.
