Stafford Job (placement)
by Nick Riley
Hi Folks,
We're a small company with an office in Stafford. For the last few years
we've taken on students from Staffs Uni for a 12 month placement as part
of their degree course... This year we're still looking for someone
suitable... :(
We support network and internet solutions mainly on Linux based kit,
although there is some Windows stuff in there too...
Although we have been looking for a university placement student we're
also willing to consider school or college leavers who are looking to work
in the IT industry.
If anyone is interested please drop me an email (with CV would be good)
and I'll provide more information.
Thanks
Nick

Hi all,
I'd like to thank all of the replies I've got regarding potential vacancies.
I've been appointed to a posting as of today and am therefore no longer
looking for work.
Thanks again for the response received.

IT Job - anything out there?
by Dave McElin
Hi all,
I'm a recent graduate of Staffordshire University obtaining a 2.1 in
Network Engineering and am in need of employment within the IT field.
I have experience in working as an ICT Technician, where my roles and
responsibilities included:
- Day-to-day maintenance of approx 400 Windows XP Professional desktop
computers.
- Backup and restoration of files and folders using Veritas Backup Exec
- Active directory maintenance/administration of approx 1200 users
- Sole responsibility of WLAN Infrastructure
- Media capture and editing
- Maintenance of Data projectors, Laser printers, Photocopiers & other
ICT resources
- PC fault finding and troubleshooting
- Maintenance & troubleshooting of bespoke (education) software.
- Data recovery
- Installation of new computers using Deploy Tools, Ghost and BartPE
I also have some experience with Cisco devices:
- Cisco Routers
- Cisco Switches, including Layer 3 switches
- Cisco Aironet Wireless Access Points
- Cisco PIX firewall devices
In my spare time I play and tinker with Linux.
I am aware of the IT Job mentioned by Chris Snow, but I'd like something
which pays something comparable to my current job (circa £16k)
If anybody has anything which they think may be suitable please drop me
an email to: dave(a)plar.info

IT job.
by Chris Snow
Hello all.
There's a job going at my place of work (a school) for an assistant
ICT Technician. Won't suit all, it's 13k but term time only so
pro-rata - about £10k/year.
We've an XP client & 2003 server network but I've managed to slip in a
Linux server under the radar! I encourage the use of Linux and FOSS
wherever possible.
Drop me a mail if interested. cr.snow(a)gmail.com

ISPs?
by Kevanf1
Does anybody on here either use '02 broadband' or know of somebody who
does? I've been offered what looks to be a very good deal. £12.50
for up to 8mb BB with unlimited downloads. Obviously this is subject
to their usual 'fair usage policy' which, to be honest is bloody wishy
washy and they will not actually state what that means so I doubt it
would stand up in court. I just want to now what the service is like.
I've fallen foul of Plus Net's off peak download limit (they have,
without telling me, reduced it from 55gb per calendar month or billing
period down to 50gb. I went slightly over and they dropped my speed
to a measly 128kbps :-((((( Before anybody says it, 50gb is a measly
amount these days if you look at tv streaming in HD.
No Dick, it wasn't porn either.
