Install fests can be whatever you want, straight forward installs of Ubuntu
etc (Which TBH in this day and age can be pretty boring, installation is
child's play) or as some Lug's do a "Bring your pain in the butt machine and
the group will help install and get it running"
Diversity of OS's is the key 10-12 people watching 10-12 Ubunutu installs is
pretty boring setting up say a Free Nas would get the Geek in you salivating.

I'm all in favour of meetings, Keele uni was an excellent venue, but
I'm sorry to say that I have no interest at all in in pub or curry
house evenings and will not be attending.
I cannot see any point in sitting in some S-o-T ghetto pub surrounded
by football supporters and suffering awful background music.
Wolves have a good system whereby they meet alternately at a pub (
which I skip) and at a suitable place to hold an informative meeting-
I have attended some first class evenings with them.
Good Luck

Hi,
I agree, the site does need a new look/feel etc. with articles.
About anything that may not be looking the best on the site, I guess I
missed it, sorry about that.
If anyone would like to get involved about running the site / admin etc.
Please shout up.
I remember a while ago we were talking about moving from e107 to Joomla,
I did have a look at it but there it appeared that we may loose the
forum board stuff. Again if anyone has any ideas on new CMS systems /
transferring stuff etc. Shout up!
Sorry for not getting back to the list sooner, but had stuff happening
at home.
Dave

What does the group think about an install fest?

i think the fact you can't register as a new user would put people off the forums along with the fact that many people have said here that they don't like forums, so no point posting there if people just don't like them

Just been over to the web site, looks rather busy, perhaps that's putting folk off using the forum?
If I had the time and skills I'd offer an alternative but I'm afraid I have little of either!
Install fest:
If enough interest could be drummed up with publicity, how about holding one? I 1st got linux on a PC of mine back in the day at an Ox LUG install fest.

staffslug mention in latest linuxoutlaws podcast
by Jonothon Nihill
Did anyone catch the mention we got in the latest
linuxoutlaws<http://linuxoutlaws.com>podcast?
I also wanted to mention having looked at the other lug's websites is there
anything we can do to "pretty" up the website? I've tried to look at the few
articles and it looks like they have html tags aplenty? I'm not being
negative or anything but compared to
wolveslug<http://www.wolveslug.org.uk/>it's a bit lacking. Is it the
fault of the CMS we have running? I have loads
of ideas for articles and have a good few written up already, but dont
really want to submit them to the site if they are going to look like the
ones that are already there.
I have a spare box that could be used to test potential replacements to the
site without having to commit to any particular piece of software.
I might be really wrong here and am willing to accept it and If I'm coming
across as agressive please tell me. It's just that I'm very passionate about
having something like the lug in our area being as good as it can be.
