Re: [Staffslug] Best Linux Server Distro for LAM (perl/CGI)
by Jonothon Nihill
I love these type of questions your bound to get half a dozen different
replys. My suggestion look at either Debian or something like centos maybe?

Hi,
Can you advise as to which Linux Server Distro is the best to use for a
Linux server to be used as an apache/mysql server with perl and cgi. Its
for a test site I'd like to set up and convert an ASP site with databases
and email to Perl CGI. I was thinking of using PHP but I know Perl
reasonably well already so I'll start with that.
Many thanks, Walt

Mobile internet/broadband
by Jonothon Nihill
Hi guys!
I need to get some info on mobile broadband/internet. My partner is
currently in hospital and wants to use the Internet so I've been tasked to
sort her out with the kit she needs. She runs ubuntu 10.04 and is quite
savvy but anything too complicated would be needed to be done by myself at
home.
I'm told that most dongles work, Does anyone have any advice as which to
get?
Thanks!

My new project, Jameter
by David Boucher
Hello All,
I've been working on a project for a while and as I've just put the site
for it live, I thought that I'd let you know about it.
It's called Jameter and it's a software development tool focused on
making games. Basically, this is my take on the PyGame/Gambas idea. The
programming language used is Lua.
For anyone who is interested, the site is www.jameter.org
Cheers,
Dave.
