Monday's Meeting (07-Jun-2010)
by Dave R
Hello all.
Well, Monday's meeting was very productive and we've come up with a list
of subject that would be good as technical meetings / talks.
In order of preference:
- Linux surgery. Have a melting pot of brains to see if we can work out
what problems you are having.
- Visualization / Cloud computing
- IPv6
- BSD (Various flavours). Yes it's not Linux, but it's stable and worth
knowing about.
- VoIP
- Poss HTML5
If you feel you can contribute to any of these subjects, let me know and
we can try and coordinate people.
Also, if you can think of anything else, the shout up.
Along side the technical meetings, the following have also been decided:
- Who's going to meeting will remain in the mailing list, so if possible
when replying to the list, try and keep the formatting the same. But what
I will do (Dave) will try and keep tabs on the emails and send out a
cleaned version and the end of the day. But if I should miss anyone, any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again to everyone who attended on Monday.

Blackpool Barcamp
by Peter Cannon
Hi All
There will be a 'Barcamp' at Blackpool I'm thinking of going so maybe
I'll see you there?
When: Saturday 3rd July 2010
Where: Blackpool Pleasure Beach (inside the white Casino Building)
Twitter: @bcblackpool
Tags: #bcblackpool
Google Group: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/bcblackpool
What is it?
A free ‘unconference’ with no scheduled speakers. Attendees arrive on
the day armed with talks and decide which ones they want to go along to!
The talks can be on anything, from android application development to
learning the British Sign Language to Electronic Organs played by BBC
Micros!
But don’t worry, you don’t have to do a talk to participate! The evnt is
paid for by our lovely sponsors on the right hand side. Thanks
especially to Yahoo! Developer Network for sponsoring the venue.

Can't you do all this stuff with an OpenDNS account?

Listing who's going to the meeting
by dave@staffslug.org.uk
Hello all,
Firstly I have an apology to make, I remember someone posted a message
about how we say "Can attend" etc to the meetings via a web site instead
of having emails bouncing around on the mailing list, but I've forgotten
who it was and the link to the site.
So, if the very kind person could re-send the link so I can have a look at
the site to see if it will work for us, I would be very grateful?

8mm Film Transfer
by walt
Hi all,
I have a 6 reels of silent 8mm film from way back I'd like to transfer to
mpg or similar. Does anyone know a kind soul that could do this for a
reasonable consideration?
By the way I have a Plustek Optic Film 7300 with which I transferred my
1000s of 35mm slides to png. I might be selling it soon but if anyway can
make use of it in the meantime, let me know.
