Where is this convo actually going? Wasn't it because of a reply

It was indeed, Kris. However, it also serves to highlight an ongoing
debate/argument ( I hope it stays the former on this list) that
happens on thousands of lists worldwide. The very subject of top
posting is highly contentious and has been the subject of quite a few
web debates. Just try typing 'top posting' into a search engine. If
you do it in Google the first entry comes up as the Wikipedia one.
They claim (erroneously, which just proves the Wikipedia is not always
correct) that top posting is more normal. However, judge for
yourself, if you scroll down that Wikipedia page they give an example
of top posting and an example of bottom posting. For me the bottom
posted example is far, far clearer. I just got confused with the top
posted one.
Maybe it would be a good idea to poll all members and ask what the
preference is. This would alleviate any further arguments for now (it
will crop up again in the future, I guarantee it and would stake a bet
of £1,000 on it which is amazing for me because I'm not a gambler) and
it also means we have a reference point to bring to the attention of
newcomers to the list.
