Interestingly I did a similar post on the Gllug mailing list and the
discussion is a hive of activity, apparently, so I read, MS has been
distributing stuff under the GPL for some time now. Exactly what is not
mentioned so I'm just as wise as you.
There's also a prediction that MS will produce a Linux Kernel OS in 2008 or
there abouts. I've been following slashdot for two or three weeks now and
there's definitely something brewing MS has approached just about everyone
now with regards to some form of partnership be it Patent agreements or
even closer ties. As we all know Vista has been a bit of a flop, MS is at
then end of the road as far as Windows is concerned so as a business they
need an alternative product to carry them forward.
I'm not saying they'd go bust over night but to get back on track with the
kinds of revenue they attained with 98, 2000 and XP its time to diversify.

Arch Linux is an independent i686-optimized community distribution for
intermediate and advanced Linux users. Utilising a Rolling Release System
packages are regularly updated and an ISO release is just a snapshot to the
stable packages at that time. So there's no need for a fresh install the
command 'pacman –Syu' upgrades the whole system.
