For the relatively small amount of members, I see nothing wrong with
the mailing list at present.
- Discussion is in one place, not divided between many.
- Forums are a hassle - spammers and such target popular forum software.
If we had 10x the members, it would likely be justifiable - more
content to spread across the medium, greater attraction to newcomers
(seeing one of the other medium as 'quiet' or 'dead' isn't attractive
at all) and also more people to help with the management of the forum
itself.
So I don't currently think it's a good idea.
