I didn't suggest that there is any obligation to be an activist or
evangelist! If that's what you picked up on then you're obviously
reading between the lines a little too much.
I was purely asking what do you do, if anything, to help spread the word
because whilst I don't go out and hand out CDs or anything i suggest it
to friends when they complain at me because their windows installation
broke etc also I have tried to implement it at a school I worked at yet
they didn't want to keep it because when i left there was no one to
administer the systems.
I find the expansion and spread of linux/foss interesting surely there's
no harm in asking about that???

I don't think there is an obligation for all fans of FOSS to be
activists and/or evangelists.
I think contributing to a LUG is also valuable.

Do you recommend it to people when their computers

My favourite response to this question was stolen from Linus
Torvalds (I think)
"Just by using the software you are contributing"
I think most here know how much I contribute to the
community :-)

Arch Linux is an independent i686-optimized community
distribution for intermediate and advanced Linux users.
Utilising a Rolling Release System packages are regularly
updated and an ISO release is just a snapshot to the stable
packages at that time. So there's no need for a fresh install
the command 'pacman –Syu' upgrades the whole system.
