Thanks for all your comments everyone.

I've installed Endian, so I'm going to persist with it for a bit longer. My work PC is now going out to the internet through it.

It was dead easy to install -  just throw in the CD and switch on the PC. It then formats the drive and installs everything automatically. When the install is done, you just browse to the web interface from another computer.

My main problem is that I've got loads of other projects to sort out at work and I haven't really got time to mess around with this. Unfortunately, I might end up just buying a managed firewall and leave it to someone else to sort out.

I'll keep you posted with my progress!

I work at Hednesford by the way and live near Telford. Anyone else near me?

Cheers

Al

Also forgot to mention IPCop -> http://www.ipcop.org/ most of the Linux
guru's at the place I work swear by it. It has a very easy to use web
interface and also can incorporate snort (IDS) as well.
I used IPCop some years ago. I was very impressed.

I've not used Endian (never heard of it until Al mentioned it) but it
looks like the same sort of idea - a distro that turns a PC into a
firewall. So all the talk about IPTables and ways to set it up is
irrelevant.

To answer the orginal question, I don't think anyone has any experience
with Endian. I can recommend IPCop, which, from what I can tell, does
much the same, but I don't know whether or not it's better than Endian
for what you need.
