Thanks Russ, I have Brassero and that works like a treat. I also have several Windows ISO creators and they also work fine (most of the time). I just want to understand why dd is messing up when I use an Audio CD. I feel certain its to do with the file system used in Audio CDs. And also, how to I get a listing of all the media devices including DVD/CD players? Walter
