Well someone did suggest implementing both an rpm based package manager
and dpkg/APT in MeeGo. But it got shot down.
However given the N900 can already run at least 5 different operating
systems currently (and that is only to my knowledge) then I'm sure there
will be plenty of choice on the next device too if you're after
something more Debian based. It'll actually be slightly easier with the
next phone to make other distributions since 100% of MeeGo will be open
source for other people to take bits they need from it, where as Meamo
is only about 95% free software (with some bits from Nokia to drive the
phone and media player etc).
