depends on whether you plan on hosting images/music and streaming.. if
in doubt, buy a root server but _FOR GOD'S SAKE_ buy it from somewhere

love the fact they're trying as i might, they're tight and don't give
you anything for free.. fdcservers is a great example of people who
will give you a shedload of bandwidth (1000gb i think i have) on a
10mbit pipe (minimum, regardless of what their sales info says) try
guzzling that down and you'll forever have a smile on your face, as
opposed to suffering something like a 100gb limit for the month..on a
badly contended line which most companies (like one&one unfortunately)
sell in the uk.
Sound advice but it's a fcking long way to drive if you lose control!
Depends what your needs are but some of the Xen offerings are looking
good and you can xm migrate to and from your server at home!
