Not that I condone the sharp replies below, but I did find some
insensibilities in Kevan's replies.
To extend your own analogy.. If your saw wasn't working, wouldn't it be
a better idea to find out why it was the incorrect saw for the task,
/before/ blindly buying another that may not do the job either?
From what I've seen, Kevan seems to reject any offer of diagnosis with
a carpet 'I'm too busy' response. We all have our lives, but this is a
little backwards: blindly jumping from distro to distro, in the *hope*
that it will solve all your woes, must also be extremely time-consuming.
With a little help in identifying the problem, he may have an answer
sooner rather than later. It really isn't the fault of the distributions
if Linux doesn't 'just work' with every piece of hardware out there,
because we should all know just how difficult that can be.
So I can see Andrew's frustration, but there's a subtle way to approach
someone's methods and over-use of the caps lock/exclamation mark isn't it.

I think your coming over as a little harsh here. Sure he distro hops
but
he does have a valid point. If I needed a saw to cut something and the
one I was using didnt work right I'd try another. Not try to modify the
saw to do the job. For a lot of people a computer is a tool for others
its all about the tinkering. whatever you do is upto you but please dont
go scolding people openly for doing something their way.

of a decade, yes, yes i would
