It might sound strange but why not just pick up a few cheap motherboards and
the cpu's that work in them. you wouldnt need a hdd or a case. I'm sure
there are software memory testers out there for linux you could include one
on some kind of live-cd I think it would work out a lot cheaper than buying
one of those tester things.
