Chris, Did newer/older xorg intel drivers help in the end on that laptop? Just found another IBM G96 xorg.conf monitor section if it helps for the desktop (plenty on Google on various forums)... Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" VendorName "IBM" ModelName "IBM G96" HorizSync 30.0 - 95.0 VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0 Option "dpms" EndSection Better to compare those values to your monitors manual however... http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/visuals/english-g96.pdf According to the specifications on page 18 the HorizSync and VertRefresh are correct in that sample, this is a lot more of a minimal configuration than the one you tried on Monday so you could try giving this a whirl.
