What on earth happened to those old psions, they were great! I have
a
still working series 5 from 1998. Im looking at psilinux, i think it's
called, It's debian for the Psion. Just a shame it's not colour. The
latest device released by psion was the Netbook, that little sub
notebook with a 640x480 colour screen, expandable ram and a pcmcia,
what a brilliant machine, shame they're still so expensive...
I still have and use my old Psion 3a :-) It is an absolute marvel.
2mb of RAM yet it seems to be able to hold tons of data. I think the
company discontinued them because of failing demand. They, Psion,
used a proprietary form of portable storage which was highly annoying.
It was also hellishly expensive at a time when stuff like SD cards
and USB memory was just starting to drop in price...drastically. If
they had done the same then I reckon more people would still be using
the older Psions.
