[Staffslug] Something a bit different...

No more questions for today :-) but how's this for luck? I bought a 1gb stick of 2700 DDR RAM from Crucial. It was meant for the Kubuntu PC. The manual states it will accept up to 2gb of RAM. Ok, so I thought I'd up it ot the 1gb mark. Pops it in this morning and it will not boot. No POST nothing... oh dear thinks I :-( I used proper protection in the form of a static guard wrist band properly earthed (I always do). So I tried some other RAM that was 512mb but also 2700. That worked fine. So I then thought perhaps the RAM was faulty.. So I've just tried it in the main PC in the house (the Kubuntu PC is in my workshop) and it works a treat :-) It has speeded up this old beast very nicely as before it was plodding along on 512mb. So, that old stick is going to be tried in the Kubuntu PC tomorrow but I'm puzzled as to why the 1gb stick didn't want to play. I did make sure it was properly seated as well. I also checked the various BIOS settings and they 'appeared' fine.
