The best place to get cheap but very good network cards is eBay. I've had 3x'3Com' cards, all brand new and not paid more that £2 for any of them. Look for 3C95* series and you cannot go wrong. They work with MS and Linux and the various BSD flavours. Or you could go to PC World and pay something like £18 for the same...
