It all sounds a bit chicken and egg. Not many people in the group because
it's not local-focused and it's not local-focused because there aren't
enough people in the group.
I'd make the bold assertaition that there are a lot of people in the same
situation as me. If they're going to have to travel then they're going to
travel to a large group in one of the major cities, where the things on
offer make travelling worth it. The Lichfield and Cannock crowd probably
head south to Brum and us Stokies head north to Manchester. That or they
just don't bother at all, thinking that no-one near them is even vaugely
interested in Linux.
I'd love to see a meeting up here in the Potteries (y'know, the largest
concentration of people in Staffordshire), perhaps at one of the local
universities? In an area of nearly 400,000 there must be some people who are
interested...
