Solar cells are pretty crap and a complete non-solution in this form as they
requires huge scale and massive storage facilities or geographically
separate plants and an inter-continental distribution grid to work
effectively (i.e no blackouts at night). Guess what we don't have yet!
However, our Government has seen fit to spend money on this scheme and not
taking part is effectively refusing free money. If you don't take it,
someone else will.

I am currently running this laptop ( and the rest of the boat ) on
solar power. Photovoltaic panels are expensive and will remain so
until some enlightened govt forces their use on all new roof
structures instead of the baked mud technology we currently use.
In my case I have Mediterranean sun but even in the UK they'll make
useful power.
