I've now got it connected via ethernet card, Realtek RTL-8139.
Fantastic, I just put the card in and Mandriva found, configured it and
connected in about 30 secs! This one now running 10 times faster than my
XP.

now go play with ipconfig and learn about multi-homing etc.
Have a play with iptables
Switch your ADSL to http://aaisp.net - they give static IPs and IPv6 so
you can REALLY play around...
