ten years ago that would have made sense but nowadays the linux option
is clear, even in stores such as currys digital. if you want to lobby
big great companies into promoting it - feel free, but the public has
an option kicking them in the face these days...
"they don't need no tellin!"
if you think about it, you know i'm right...
perhaps something down the lines of aiding users in their migration
from other operating systems?
i'm sure it'll be a topic at the meeting somehow
In one respect I would agree with you Andrew. Yes, Linux is pretty
much 'in your face' in places like Dixons, Currys etc. But, I have to
ask myself if that awareness is actually because we know about Linux
and when we see it on a netbook it hits us in the face. I actually
have my doubts. I think that out of every ten people you'd ask in the
street only about two or possibly three would have heard of Linux and
one possibly uses it (as far as they are aware).
I'm fully with you about assisting users to migrate to a far superior
operating system though :-)
Oh, just got back from The Mailbox in B'ham. I needed to check my
route for tomorrow being as I am bieng interviewed live in the studio
on BBC Radio WM :-)
