Some SSDs anyway - depends how much you fancy spending. The random-request (read or write) speeds of SSDs, particularly with recent Sandforce/Intel models, is an order of magnitude better than any form of rotating rust. Personally I agree with Andrew on the storage/speed/cost front; I don't think I'd buy another 'Raptor now, although RPM increases do typically come with improved random workload performances, they're nothing like the SSD experience.
