The E220 arrived on Friday and it was one of the easiest things I've had to
install. To be honest, I wasn't expecting it to work and was planning on
taking the Eee PC home over the weekend to waste ages of time setting up the
GPRS.
However, I plugged the E220 into a USB port.
Went into network settings
clicked 'create new connection'
chose the modem from a list
chose my network provider from a list (O2)
click connect
Job sorted!!
Yep, that's how I set mine up too!! I think it's the newer kernels
that do the trick. The first time I set it up it was loads of messing
around.
It's just a shame we haven't got 3G round here. Perhaps it
will come one
day.
Where? Most of this area has 3g on "3" and, I think, Orange. Also TMob
OK.
Try another usim in your modem, might not be locked to O2. If you at
next meeting I'll bring a couple along to try.
