Or, there are the open source tools such as QT parted which has a
lot
of the same functionality as Partition Magic. I'm willing to bet that
the latest will safely handle NTFS partitions. QT parted being free
of course and included on quite a few distros (SuSE springs to mind).
I know that there is a Gnome partition tool that has had some good
reviews lately but I cannot remember the name of it as I rarely use
Gnome.
The problem there, as I understood it, was he wanted to merge and faff
about QT etc are not 'Novice' freindly in the long run fdisk and
format is probably the best route. Starting from a clean slate is
always better than using a smudged one. :-)
