good idea. I've used such a feature with the latest puppy. if your computer can boot from usb (you would have to check) then you could simply bung it on there and be able to save settings.
instead of using the live cd all the time, why not install a distro to a usb drive. means you can have all your add-ons+settings exactly how you want them from computer to computer. several distro's now include this as an install option, fedora is one of them.
