Until I read the movie rendering bit I was going to say, get a P1 233mhz with 64meg of RAM!!!On 08/12/2007, Kris Douglas < kris@softdel.co.uk> wrote:On 08/12/2007, Chris Snow <cr.snow@gmail.com> wrote:Single P4 running at a couple of ghz with a gig of ram would be fine for that sort of use.On 08/12/2007, Kevanf1 < kevanf1@gmail.com> wrote:On 08/12/2007, Kris Douglas < kris@softdel.co.uk> wrote:

Nice...very nice :-)
Ok, I'm seriously thinking of building a new up to date PC. It has to
be a 64 bit CPU (of course) and though quad core sound nice I think
dual core will be fine for me. Forget Intel it has to be AMD for me.
I've looked and am now totally bewildered. I don't play games but I
do a lot of surfing. I rarely play music myself but my kids do when
they are on the PC but built in sound is fine. I do occasionally
watch the odd movie on the PC (I much prefer it in comfort on the 42"
plasma). I have done some movie rendering though so I'll be looking
at a decent amount of RAM (well, while it's this cheap).
So, suggestions anybody? Anything to avoid like the plague?

I was going to say that, you don't need a dual core cpu to browse the web :)
