It is a learning experience for others. As an aside, Stuart, I'd suggest that you may be better off getting hold of an ethernet modem or modem router. Sometimes hardware is just pants in Linux. Not the fault of Linux but the hardware manufacturers don't write 'driver's for Linux (some do). It's left to the community to write drivers and it is like working in the dark if the spec's are not known. Besides which, an ethernet router/modem would be faster than a USB one as the USB ones take some CPU time from your main processor.
