FAT32 does not have support for permissions. Are you certain you are
mounting the NTFS volume as rw? That may be the key.
Check my earlier entry that I posted from my fstab file :-)
Anyway, it wasn't that. I have finally had access of sorts. For
starters I wasn't a member of the 'fuse' group. I feel that this is
an oversight on the part of the developers to not automatically
include new users into this group. After all, there are going to be
plenty of newcomers to Linux who have XP which is (or should be) ntfs
formatted. I know it can be run as FAT32....
So, after much messing about I have had enough. I wanted to transfer
the OS to the 80gb drive. I'm not going to. I shall re-install from
scratch and have to endure all the dowloading with the updates :-(
The reason, I hear you cry? Because I'm left with a right mess such
as an icon on the desktop that even root cannot clear and bits of
gubbins all over the place.
The problem is I'm a SuSE man so I'm used to messing about with fstab.
This is the reason it's become buggered apparently, I shouldn't have
touched fstab at all!!!
