Although it's not strictly Linux, the most stable platform for a
'LAMP' setup in my experience has been FreeBSD. These days I will not
run a server with any other OS!

I use cent os for Ubuntu for development. Our servers run Cent OS.
either are pretty good for LAMP. imho
