Basically it turns a x86 box into a sort of hybrid SAN/NAS, a bit like a
NetApp really (in the same way that it spins out iSCSI luns as a large
file
on the filesystem) with NFS and CIFS access too. Talks to AD (if that
is
your thing) or LDAP, have volume groups etc etc etc :) IP bonding,
block
level replication, clustering etc etc etc.. oh and it is all Linux based
and free :)

Absolutely, this sounds like something I will find very interesting I have
worked NetApp's for around 9 years so I'd be very interested in comparing
this to the real thing. Sounds like a great way to create a mini home
enterprise for testing on. Now with VTL included in that product if they
get around to doing it then they have something which is as good if not
better than what is on the market already - oh and it will run on Linux :)
Maybe both could be integrated together some how as an add on module -
will have to look under bonnet - I have a new project coming on here :D.
