I do believe you are finding out about one of the secrets of teaching,
Andrew :-) When I worked at Wolves Uni I saw that sort of thing go on
a lot. Colleges are the worst though. A tutor can be teaching a
subject of which he/she has no experience or knowledge barring what is
written in front of them. You do not, of course, require a teaching
certificate to actually teach in college.
