the only difference is the desktop, i agree.. i'm a kde man myself ;)
dapper drake does look like a new path for ubuntu perhaps, although i
haven't tried it yet... they may be aiming towards corporate measures
with this campaign on the community!

Which other one? According to
www.ubuntu.com there are Ubuntu (GNOME),
Kubuntu (KDE), Edubuntu (for schools) and Xubuntu (XFCE). Xubuntu only
became a "proper" Ubuntu version when 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake) was
released earlier this week, which may be where the confusion is coming
from. As far as I can tell (and experience with Ubuntu & Xubuntu backs
this up) the different versions differ primarily in which desktop you
get by default.
