my situation is..... i have installed apache2 but i want it to
instead of
using the "/var/www" directory as the place you go to when you put
http://blah.blah.com/ into the address bar in browser, use the 60gb hd i
just put in and mounted as "/webserver" so i keep my OS on one drive and the
webserver stuff on another drive I've looked at several forums and how to's
but none of them really cover what i been trying to do. i've even tried
installing webmin and doing it that was just for ease of use with a gui, but
when i set up virtual servers in there it has no effect I'm using the server
install off the new 8.04 kubuntu DVD pleeeeeease help i've been trolling
thro forums and how to's since 6pm tonite and frankly i'm all for hooking it
up to the car towbar and dragging it several miles as i watch sparks fly off
the back of it Adam
then in your registrar (godaddy for example...) forward the A record
to the ip of the server and apache will pick it up and show you the
right site
hope this helps
alternatively in the apache config you can change the /var/www dir...
but virtual hosts are FAR better for your purposes
i reccomend taking webmin off - it wont help you learn and it'll
change your configs.
