I have seen this article whilst googling yesterday. And I have also picked
up, eventually, the fact that Audio CDs are different. dd can't read audio
cds for that reason. Anyway, there are quite a few utilities that can do
what I want. This was/is an educational exercise and I'll be interested to
see if dd can be used to backup dual layer and copy protected DVDs.
I'll give that a go next.
