I could of course be wrong :-) but I seem to remember the shielded stuff being recommended for general network wiring runs in a building. It is stiffer and tougher but that doesn't really matter as it is not being moved once in position. That is unlike, for example, a patch cable where it may be run through some quite acute angles in the server framework.
