He, he, he, guys, guys, guys. Take a look at what I first said.
Installing stuff is not a problem and that's where I disagreed with
that article. The rest is about how unfriendly the Linux community
can be. Now, bear in mind that I have been messing and playing with
Linux since about 1997 in some form or another. It was unfriendly
then to a newcomer and my god it can still be that way, believe me.
Only about 6 months ago I was laid into for asking about something on
a main distro's official forum. It was a perfectly acceptable
question - in my eyes - but I got told all sorts such as such read the
f***ing man pages etc. Which I had done and I could not make head nor
tail of it. I left that forum in disgust. On here we are very
friendly but, there are still some arseholes out there who are
spiteful and very quick to denigrate a newcomers shortcomings. They
are quite likely spotty little oiks who have no social life away from
the PC but, nasty remarks like that hurt.
That bit I agree with in that article. I will also say I have found
it to be very rare to have that sort of experience when I've asked
question on the - possibly - thousands of Windows help forums etc.
