In most versions of Ubuntu the first thing to do in the
package manager is to enable the Universe (&, if wanted,
the multiverse) repositories. After that a lot more packages
will appear for you :)
and when it does there is no indication of it having
done so. I also found that I needed to log out and back in for a
couple of things. I'm not too used to that with Linux. Yes, for
Windows it's the norm' but
Yes, that's quite bad. On the plus side Feisty and Gutsy (7.4
& 7.10) both have KDE4 packages :-) [1]
Anyway, if you want a distro with the convenience of debs, and
none of this re-booting hassle, just install Debian Sid.
You'll never look back ;o)
