You could always try :
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
And follow the prompts, it is worth a shot before doing a re-install.

Thanks Tig,
Nope it wont fix itself. There is no xorg.conf, according to Ubuntu's Help
Pages its persistent and although I know what the word means I have no
idea
what it means in Ubuntu's context.
I am running the repair/re-install now see if that works. If not I'll
switch back to Suse and install from scratch.

I thought ubuntu now had "bulletproof x" and was supposed to handle all
that
itself.
Try renaming your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to something else (add .backup
on
the end of something) and then reboot and see if it fixes itself.
