This is a continuation from the previous thread because I considered
it to be thread hijacking otherwise :-)))
I'll take this opportunity to say that I am going to attempt to put
Puppy Linux on a little Sony Vaio Picturebook today. I'm having to go
a convoluted way to get it done though. Because of the vagaries of
installing to these lovely but very knobbled PC's (they will only
accept up to 128mb of RAM maximum) and they have a strange
installation routine that is 100% designed specifically with only
Windows 98 in mind.... I have had to take the little beast
apart...totally. I'm going to instal the hard drive into my main PC
via an adaptor cable that sizes down (or up) from 3.5 IDE drives to
2.5 drives. Then, when it comes to first initial boot I'll knock the
main PC off and install the drive back into the Picturebook to allow
it to properly detect all the hardware.
Well, that's the idea....
No, it's not possible to install Puppy from the CD, I've tried and it
simply does not like it. See my above comment about Win 98 :-(((((
Yes, I've tried Smart Boot Manager. My bran nearly imploded trying to
work out just what I was doing. So, the take it apart option is
actually easier :-O Besides, it satisfies my curiosity about what's
under the skin :-)
