I collapse everything into one panel from the default Ubuntu layout and get
some screen space back! I've never felt the need to change the fonts though,
they look fine to me! I do like some nice wallpaper - interfacelift.com has
some excellent ones.

I've never seen a need to change it, except for on an EEE PC (701) due
to the small screen size. On that I used a slightly smaller font and got
rid of one of the panels to free up some space.
