I currently lease a User-Mode Linux server from Linode, although I'm
intending to move to Bytemark at some point (ie when I get around to
it). I have full root access, and can do pretty much what I like.
For domain names, I set up the DNS records to point to my IP address and
set up an Apache virtual server to respond to requests on that domain. I
don't bother with my own name server, using my registrar's.
