Exactly what is not mentioned so I'm just as wise as you. There's also a prediction that MS will produce a Linux Kernel OS in 2008 or there abouts. I've been following slashdot for two or three weeks now and there's definitely something brewing MS has approached just about everyone now with regards to some form of partnership be it Patent agreements or even closer ties. As we all know Vista has been a bit of a flop, MS is at then end of the road as far as Windows is concerned so as a business they need an alternative product to carry them forward. Utilising a Rolling Release System packages are regularly updated and an ISO release is just a snapshot to the stable packages at that time. So there's no need for a fresh install the command 'pacman –Syu' upgrades the whole system.

I think that they may look at offering a MS Linux along the lines of Linspire. They may even attempt to buy out Linspire and then revamp it with various multimedia codecs etc that are not normally legally available. Perhpas adding a Linux version of MS Office and a guaranteed support package for most popular hardware. Think about it, even though Linux is far better now with hardware it still isn't anywhere near perfect. If MS were to totally embrace Linux with its inherent security but, put in their own proprietary stuff and charge about £60 or £70 for it I bet they would make a killing. Of course, if the kernel (Linux) goes GPL3 then they will not be able to do that (Idon't think, but the legalities are complex so I could be wrong).
