I'm thinking of buying an Asus Eee PC, but I need to be able to use it for GPRS connectivity (with O2).

I was thinking I could buy a bluetooth dongle, then use a Motorola Razr as a modem. Does anyone have any experience of this? if so, does it sound easy enough to do?

Also, will all bluetooth dongles work with Linux? If not, can someone point me in the right direction of a compatible bluetooth adapter.

Well I received the Eee this morning. I'm really impressed. I logged onto a wifi network straight away and was on the web in about 2 minutes. Waiting for the E220 - should be here later today hopefully. I'm going to order one of those diddy bluetooth adapters as well. Cheers Al

Green. GPRS Blue. UMTS Cyan. HSDPA. I didn't know what the hell "cyan" was either but it's the blue and green together!

Epson PC-AT with a 5.25" drive and an 8086 CPU running at 10MHz iirc. It had a 10MB hard disk and mono text only screen. Happy days.

I seem to have missed a few steps - I sold my ZX81 to buy a new guitar, and didn't get back to computers until a decade later, when my horticultural consultancy business decided that Psion 3 was the answer to their computing needs ;-) That pocket-sized computer had a parallel port adaptor for my HP printer, a portable modem that I used with a VT100 terminal emulator and a little shell script to dial up and get e-mails, and a cribbage game to keep me occupied on train jorneys. What on earth happened to those old psions, they were great! I have a still working series 5 from 1998. Im looking at psilinux, i think it's called, It's debian for the Psion. Just a shame it's not colour. The latest device released by psion was the Netbook, that little sub notebook with a 640x480 colour screen, expandable ram and a pcmcia, what a brilliant machine, shame they're still so expensive...

I still know of a few software developers working on the psion devices as a workable platform, bust because of the 0% upgrade possibility, appart from the Compact Flash socket on the back, it's not really the best device.
