chat/messenger formats. I just can't type fast enough now because of
arthur.... So I much prefer good old fashioned e-mail :-)

It's always been my past experience that I'm left trying to answer
something from at least an hour previous. By which time everybody has
forgotten what the original post was about :-) Add to that I then
have that past hour's stuff to try to catch up on :-( So, nope, sorry
I just don't like instant messenging.
It takes me forever to do a text too. Then my fingers give up on me
if they want another reply.

setting a general time etc would be a great start, not suggesting people use
it only then but If people knew for example say at 6pm most likely to see
other lug members there then it will start to get used.
